About Status Is Down
We correlate automated monitoring, official status sources, and crowd-sourced user reports. Multiple independent signals help us identify widespread outages, partial disruptions, and regional issues while reducing the chance that one person’s connection problem is mistaken for a service-wide incident.
Yes. Our Free plan lets you monitor up to 5 services or websites and receive email alerts at no cost. For users who need more, our Pro plan ($7.99/month or $79/year) supports up to 15 subscriptions, and our Max plan ($14.99/month or $149/year) offers unlimited monitoring.
We monitor 13,500+ services across 60+ categories — including social media, banking, gaming, streaming, cloud hosting, airlines, and more — plus 2M+ websites globally. You can browse the full directory at our services page or search for any specific service or website.
Unlike tools that only check if a website responds to pings, we combine automated checks with real user reports from around the world. This means we can detect partial outages, regional issues, and service degradations that automated tools miss. We also provide predictive recovery analysis so you know when a service is likely coming back.
ALERTS
Alerts & Notifications
Get outage and recovery updates by email, browser push, app push, SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, or Google Chat. Free includes email, browser, app push, and SMS; collaboration channels are included with Pro and Max and can be managed from your account dashboard.
Yes. We send both outage alerts (when a service goes down) and recovery alerts (when it comes back up). This way you don’t have to keep checking — we’ll tell you when it’s safe to try again.
Alerts are typically sent within minutes of an outage being confirmed. The exact timing depends on the volume and velocity of user reports — major outages affecting millions of users are detected and alerted faster than smaller, regional issues.
Absolutely. After creating an account, you can subscribe to specific services and websites from your account dashboard. You only receive alerts for the services you’ve chosen to monitor.
You can manage all your subscriptions from your account dashboard. Each alert also includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deactivates alerts for that service but keeps it in your list in case you want to reactivate later.

COMMUNITY
Reporting & Community
Visit the service or website page on our site and click the “Yes” button under “Is [service] down for you right now?” You can also leave a comment describing the issue you’re experiencing. Your report helps confirm the outage for other users.
The world map displays real-time outage reports and comments from users around the globe over the past 7 days. Pulsing dots indicate countries where users have recently reported issues, giving you a visual sense of which regions are affected.
We use volume-based validation — an outage is confirmed when multiple independent users report the same issue within a short window. This crowd-sourced approach filters out individual connectivity problems and ensures we only alert on genuine, widespread outages.
Yes. Each service page includes a timeline of past outages, user comments, and our predictive recovery analysis. You can also explore our real-time dashboard for current and recent outages across all monitored services.
BUSINESS
For Businesses
Our business solutions help IT, support and operations teams monitor critical public services, websites, tenant health and approved private checks from one workspace. The dashboard also supports alert routing, incident tools, team roles, MSP client workspaces, scheduled briefs, status pages and self-service billing. Visit our business page for details.
The catalog groups 178 enterprise monitoring and integration options across incident tools, collaboration workflows, cloud and tenant health, private infrastructure, internet and API checks, servers, applications, databases, logs, analytics, AI, and business SaaS. It is a business setup catalog and is separate from SID’s public directory of 13,500+ monitored services.
Available now covers 13 implemented setup paths, including direct connectors and collaboration alert destinations. Probe-compatible covers 39 checks that can run from a customer-controlled outbound probe. The remaining 126 options use a metadata-only request and technical review so SID can confirm the safest supported connection method. The dashboard never asks users to place credentials in a request description.
Direct managed connections currently include Microsoft 365 tenant health, Microsoft Azure Resource Health, ServiceNow, Zendesk, Freshservice, PagerDuty, signed HTTPS webhooks, Telegram, and compatible custom HTTPS health APIs. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, and Google Chat are available as collaboration alert destinations. Credentialed connections are tested before encrypted storage and can be revoked from the business dashboard.
Yes. The dashboard displays official or familiar service marks and favicons where a reliable public brand domain is available, with a clear text fallback when it is not. Logos are used only to make options easier to recognize; the setup label remains the source of truth for availability.
Our Reliability Check analyses your website’s uptime history, response times, and outage patterns over the past 30 days. It provides a reliability score and actionable recommendations — completely free, no account required. Try it on our business page.
Yes. Each service page has an “Embed” button that generates a lightweight widget you can place on your website. This shows your visitors real-time outage status without them needing to leave your site.
WEBSITE
For Website Owners
“Claim This Website” lets you verify that you own or manage a domain listed on Status Is Down. Once verified, you gain access to an Owner Dashboard with analytics, user reports, and tools to manage your online presence. Claimed pages also display a “Verified Owner” badge, which builds trust with visitors checking your site’s status.
Visit your website’s page on Status Is Down (e.g., statusisdown.com/website/yourdomain.com) and click the “Claim This Website” button. You’ll be asked to verify ownership through one of three methods: Email Verification (we send a code to an email address on your domain — the fastest option), DNS Record (add a TXT record to your domain’s DNS), or Meta Tag (add a meta tag to your homepage HTML). Once verified, you’ll have immediate access to your Owner Dashboard.
As a verified owner, you get access to: Owner Dashboard with total reports, 7-day and 30-day statistics; User Report Feed showing all community-submitted outage reports for your domain; Verified Owner badge displayed prominently on your website’s page; Instant downtime alerts when users report issues; an Embeddable Uptime Badge you can place on your own website to showcase your reliability; and the ability to post official status updates to keep your users informed during outages.
Yes. Claiming your website and accessing the Owner Dashboard is completely free. You can view user reports, receive downtime alerts, and display the Verified Owner badge at no cost. Advanced analytics features such as 90-day history, response tools, and priority support are available through our Business plan.
The “Unclaimed” badge indicates that the website’s owner has not yet verified their ownership on Status Is Down. The page is being monitored by the community, but the owner hasn’t claimed it to access analytics, respond to reports, or post official updates. If you’re the owner, we encourage you to claim your page to take control of your brand’s outage narrative.
Currently, only one verified owner is supported per domain. The verification process requires access to the domain’s email, DNS, or HTML — ensuring that only authorized personnel can complete the claim. If you need to transfer ownership, use our support enquiry form.
When multiple users report your website as down on Status Is Down, we send a courtesy notification to common domain email addresses (admin@, webmaster@, info@). This is an automated alert to help you respond quickly. We recommend claiming your website page so you can monitor reports in real time, post official status updates, and receive instant alerts — rather than waiting for the threshold-based email.
On unclaimed website pages, we show a blurred preview of the Owner Dashboard to give you a sense of the analytics and tools available. This includes sample data for total reports, weekly trends, and a report chart. To access the real data, simply click “Claim to Unlock” and complete the verification process.

We review submitted domains through automated safety and quality checks to protect our community and search integrity. We intentionally do not disclose the full evaluation criteria, but legitimate, active websites with verifiable ownership are generally eligible.
Yes. Visit our website directory and use the Add Your Website section. Enter your domain and email, and we will check eligibility before creating its monitoring page. You can then verify ownership to unlock the Business Dashboard.
Your website receives a dedicated monitoring page where visitors can report outages and view status information. After verifying ownership, you can configure alerts, review reports and analytics, and post official status updates. New pages begin with limited search visibility and may become indexable after establishing sufficient trust and genuine engagement.
