How it works

From domain to verified status page

A guided signup flow keeps ownership verification clear and helps you publish the right status experience.

Verification guide

Verify with a DNS record or meta tag

Can’t receive email at your domain? Use one of these methods instead. Your unique code appears after you choose a method and click Start Verification, and it stays valid for 30 minutes.

DNS TXT record

Best if you can edit your domain’s DNS settings

  1. Choose DNS Record, enter your email address and click Start Verification. Copy the full TXT value shown on screen.
  2. Sign in to the service that manages your DNS (for example Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Cloud DNS or AWS Route 53) and add a new TXT record with the values below.
  3. Save the record and wait 5–10 minutes. Some DNS providers take longer to publish changes.
  4. Return to the verification page and click Verify Ownership.
Record to add
FieldWhat to enter
TypeTXT
Name / Host@ (the root of the domain you are verifying, e.g. yourdomain.com)
Value / Contentsid-verify=sid-verify-a1b2c3… (copy your complete value)
TTLAuto, or the lowest option available

The value starts with sid-verify= followed by your code, which also begins with sid-verify-, so the words appear twice. That is expected — paste it exactly as shown.

Homepage meta tag

Best if you can edit your website’s HTML

  1. Choose Meta Tag, enter your email address and click Start Verification. Copy the tag shown on screen.
  2. Paste it inside the <head> section of your homepage, for example in your theme’s header template or your platform’s “custom code” or “header code injection” setting.
  3. Publish the change and clear any website, plugin or CDN cache.
  4. Open your homepage, view the page source to confirm the tag is there, then click Verify Ownership.

Example tag<meta name="sid-verify" content="sid-verify-a1b2c3…">

Our checker visits https://yourdomain.com/ directly, so:

  • The homepage must load over HTTPS without redirecting (for example to www, another domain, a language page or a login page).
  • The tag must be in the HTML your server sends. Tags added later by JavaScript or a tag manager cannot be detected.
  • Firewalls and bot protection must allow the request.
  • If your homepage redirects, use the DNS method instead.

Not verifying yet?

  • “The required DNS TXT record was not found yet” means the exact value is not publicly visible yet. Wait a few more minutes, then click Verify Ownership again.
  • Check the record name. The TXT record must be on the domain you are verifying (@), not on www or another subdomain. Some providers add your domain automatically, so typing the full domain in the Name field can create yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com. In Cloudflare, entering @ or your domain name is the same.
  • Check the value. It must match exactly, with no extra spaces or extra quotation marks. Keep your other TXT records (such as SPF or Google verification) and add this as a separate record.
  • Codes expire after 30 minutes. If you start again later, you will receive a new code, so update your TXT record or meta tag before verifying. Use the same email address throughout.
  • Meta tag not found? Make sure https://yourdomain.com/ opens without a redirect, the tag appears in the page source (not only after JavaScript runs) and any cache has been cleared.
  • Check it yourself: run nslookup -type=TXT yourdomain.com or dig TXT yourdomain.com +short, or use a public DNS lookup tool. Your sid-verify=… value should appear in the results.
